A Tirthankara (ford-maker) is an extraordinarily rare class of liberated soul. They blaze the crossing from worldly existence (Samsara) to liberation (Moksha), and then show all others the path.
In each cosmic half-cycle, exactly 24 Tirthankaras appear. The next comes in the next ascending cycle.
Five auspicious events mark every Tirthankara's life — celebrated simultaneously across all three worlds:
